Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig September 21 1983) is an American actress who is best known for her roles as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television show Lost as well as Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Following the divorce of her parents the actress left Worthington Ohio in order to settle with her family in Los Angeles. The year 2001 was a difficult one for her, but despite financial struggles she managed get her first significant role in the online video series Rachel's Room as the lead character. In 2002, she was awarded an Young Artist Award in 2002 due to her role as Murder on the streets of Greenwich of 15 year old Martha Moxley as a murder victim, Grace was able to be awarded. Grace Rutherford played the lead actress on Lost for its first two seasons. In 2004, she was awarded the Screen Actors Guild Award with all the cast. Grace wanted to focus on film following her role as Tom Welling's character on The Fog, in 2005. She also starred on screen in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and also, as Liam Neeson's Kim Mills as Kim Mills in Taken. The role was reprised in Taken 2 (2013) and Taken 3 (2015). In addition, she played Alice as Alice in Malice in Wonderland which is an updated version that the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace played the role as Shannon in two episodes of Lost including the series finale. Grace appeared in Californication's 6th season which ran from 2013 until 2014. The character she plays is Faith who's both the star-gazer and a the girl in the group. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. Being part of the Gyllenhaal Family she's the daughter and older sister to actor Jake Gyllenhaal. She began her career in the teen years with minor roles in several of the films of her father and starred together with her brother in famous cult classic Donnie Darko (2001). She then appeared in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was nominated to win an Golden Globe Award in both the romantic comedy Sherrybaby (2005) and in the romantic comedy Secretary (2002). Both movies were critically acclaimed. Following a string of commercially successful movies in 2006 such as World Trade Center she received more attention for her role as Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). For her performance as the single mom in Crazy Heart (2009) she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. After that, she went on to play in comedies as well as dramas such Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and Won't Back Down (12). In addition, she was the role of a Secret Service Agent in White House Down the action thriller from 2013, as well as a singer on the set of Frank (2014) as well as The lead for the lead role in The Kindergarten Teacher, a film that debuted in the year the year 2018. Gyllenhaal composed and directed her first feature film, The Lost Daughter in 2021. The psychological drama won Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. The film was also nominated for be awarded the Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
